Deletion & Data Requests

This page explains how account, card, contribution, and media deletion works in UsTheMemory. Last updated May 29, 2026.

Delete your account

  • Signed-in users can delete their account from Settings.
  • Account deletion permanently deletes your account, your owned cards, their contributions, uploaded card media, published card assets, and pending cards connected to your account.
  • After account deletion, you are signed out and the action cannot be undone.

Delete a card

  • Card owners can delete an individual card from the Manage page for that card.
  • Card deletion removes the card, all of its contributions, uploaded media files, and app-hosted published card assets.
  • Deleting a card also removes access to its contribution and viewing links inside UsTheMemory.

Delete a contribution

  • Card owners can remove individual contributions from the Manage page.
  • Removing a contribution deletes the contribution record and its app-hosted media files where applicable.
  • If you are a contributor and want your contribution removed, contact the card owner first. If you need help, contact UsTheMemory with the card link and enough detail for us to review the request.

Published and shared cards

  • Deleting app-hosted content removes it from UsTheMemory, but it does not remove copies that other people already downloaded, screenshotted, recorded, forwarded, cached, or saved outside the service.
  • If a card has already been shared publicly or privately, consider asking recipients or viewers to delete their own copies as well.

What may remain

  • We may retain limited records when needed for legal obligations, payment processing, fraud prevention, security, abuse review, dispute resolution, tax or accounting requirements, or product reliability.
  • Examples may include payment status records, Stripe transaction references, security logs, support or feedback messages, abuse reports, and backup copies for a limited period.
  • When retained information is no longer needed, we work to delete it or keep it only in a limited form appropriate for the reason it was retained.

For deletion, access, correction, or export questions, contact usthememorysupport@gmail.com. Include the email address connected to your account, the relevant card link if you have one, and the specific action you are requesting.
